Communicator v7 - Business Edition for Windows
Desktop application licenses must be enabled by support. Please contact support to have your application licenses enabled, and your temporary password set. This must be done prior to completing the steps below. If you are upgrading from a previous version, this step is not necessary.
Please do not delete any previous versions of Communicator before completing this step. Doing so may require additional setup steps. Deleting previous version will happen automatically during the install.
Step 1 - Precautions
If you are presented with any messages claiming that "Your version of Communicator is not supported, Please ignore this message and close out of Communicator.
- Right Click on the Tray Icon (by the system time), and completely close Communicator.
Step 2 - Download and Launch Communicator
- Click HERE to download the latest version of Communicator for Windows.
- Download Instructions for Google Chrome (If you are using Microsoft Edge, please proceed to Step 2a)
- Locate the file you've just downloaded, and run it. You may also launch the install directly from your browser. Once the download in complete, launch your download using the Download History window by pressing the "Open Now" icon on the screen.
- Proceed to Step 3
- Download Instructions for Google Chrome (If you are using Microsoft Edge, please proceed to Step 2a)
Step 2a - Download and Launch Communicator - For Microsoft Edge
Microsoft Edge integrates with a technology on your computer called "SmartScreen". SmartScreen will require some additional steps to complete the download process. If you have Google Chrome on your computer, please download Communicator using Chrome. If you would still like to use Microsoft Edge for this download, please follow the instructions below.
- You will be presented with the following warning message. Hover over the message, click the 3-dot menu that will appear on the far right of the message, and select "Keep".
- You will then be asked to confirm that you trust this download. To do so, click "Show More", and then select "Keep anyway".
- Locate the file you've just downloaded, and run it. You may also launch the install directly from your browser. Once the download in complete, launch your download using the Download History window by pressing the "Open File" link on the screen.
Step 3 - Running the Installer
- Once you launch the download, you may be presented with some additional SmartScreen protection notifications. If you don't see the additional notifications, that is ok. Skip past these instructions and proceed with the install.
- On the screen below, press "More Info", followed by "Run Anyway".
- You will now be asked to allow the application again. Please click Yes.
- This will begin the product installation. You may see a notification from Communicator stating that a "32 bit application has been detected. This is expected. Please click OK.
- At the Setup Welcome Screen, click Next.
- You will be presented with the EULA (Electronic User License Agreement). You must click "I agree to the terms of this license agreement" before you can continue.
- Click Next.
- Choose the location you want Communicator installed to. Leave these settings as default and pressing Next.
- You will also be asked to choose the Shortcut Folder. Again, Leave these settings as default and pressing Next.
- You will be asked one last time to confirm your selections.
- Once the installation is completed, press Finish.
Step 4 - Running the Application, after an Upgrade
- You may now launch Communicator from your desktop.
- If this is your first time installing Communicator, please proceed to Step 5.
- Tip: Look at the Icons below. Although the difference is subtle, do you notice how the icons are not the same. The icon on the left is for older versions of Communicator, while the icon on the Right is for all newer version of Communicator.
- If you are upgrading, When you go to open Communicator using any previously stored shortcuts, you may see a "Problem with Shortcut" notification window. On this window you will need to click Yes. This will delete the icon you're trying to launch.
- To re-create this icon, open the Start Menu, and scroll until you find "Communicator".
- Right-Click on the blue "Communicator" Icon, hover on "More", and then click "Open file location".
- This will open another windows. In this window, again, right-click on the blue "Communicator" Icon, Hover on "Send to", and Select "Desktop (create shortcut)".
- Return to your Desktop, and launch the newly created Communicator Icon.
- You may be presented with a Windows Security Alert. If you are, please check the boxes next to "Private Networks" and "Public Networks", and click "Allow access".
- You have now completed your upgrade, and may begin using Communicator!
Step 5 - Running the Application for the First Time
- Launch Communicator from your computer's Desktop
- You will now see the Profile Setup Wizard. Click Next to begin setup.
- You will then be asked to select your "Login Type". Select "Password Login". and click Next.
- You will be prompted to enter your e-mail address, and password.
- Before you can continue, you will need to select the "Advanced" tab at the top of this window.
- On the "Advanced" tab, you MUST enter the login server address as "voice.integritel.com".
- Click Next.
- You will then be asked how you intend to use Communicator. (This option can be changed later)
- If you intend on using Communicator as a companion to a physical desk phone, and you do not plan on using your computer speakers and microphone to place and receive phone calls, then select "Use deskphone" and un-select the "Use softphone" feature.
- If you do not have a physical desk phone, or you intend on only using Communicator to place and receive phone calls using your computer speakers and microphone, select "Use softphone" and un-select the "Use deskphone" feature.
- If you intend on using Communicator as a companion to your physical desk phone, and you also plan to use the softphone functionality through your computer, select both "Use deskphone" and "Use softphone.
- If you only use Communicator for it's fax functionality, and you do not intend on using Communicator for any of the call capabilities, please un-select both options.
- Once you have made your selections, click Continue.
- Review the summary, and click "Done" when finished.
Step 6 - Celebrate
Congratulations!
- You have now installed and configured the latest version of Communicator, and may begin using the application.
- Note: You may be presented with a Windows Security Alert. If you are, please check the boxes next to "Private Networks" and "Public Networks", and click "Allow access".
